Meet the managers

Hi guys! I’m Jess and my this is my husband Aaron. We are the new Scandia managers! Aaron and I have lived in Idaho for most of our lives. We met back in our younger days and have been married for 9 years. We have 2 wonderful kids together who you can catch on their bikes or helping us around the hotel.

Aaron and I have always loved a good thrill or just a new adventure. When I was 16, Aaron took me on a date to an Idaho hot springs. It was my first time ever going to a natural one. We hiked to it and then hung out and enjoyed a beautiful view. I loved that I didn’t know what I was expecting but just had trust in Aaron leading me on an adventure. Ever since then, he’s always been leading me and I am always yearning for a new adventure with him.

We went to college for 7 years. Graduated, and we just felt the need to come back to Boise, Idaho. We felt like we could have more connections for jobs and we had family close by so we moved. I found a job as a preschool teacher and Aaron was just trying to figure out what he liked and what he wanted to do. We had been living in Boise for 2 years when we were approached with this opportunity to run a hotel. We knew that this was something we wanted.

We met with the owner and soon after that we got the job offer! We moved up to McCall within 2 months. It was all so fast. I had to say goodbye to the job I fell in love with, but everyone was so understanding. They were all excited for our new adventure.

I drove up with the kids by myself and Aaron drove the Uhaul. I could feel a big weight off my shoulder and just started to tear up driving through the mountains. This is it, we will make the best of it and be happy!

We bought skis for us and our kids and got passes to Tamarack Ski resort and became ski bums! At the same time we were also training and learning the ins and outs of running a hotel.

Fast forward 3 months later and man we do NOT REGRET this decision. We are happy and just thriving. We love that we can grow this hotel and we are meeting people, and learning something new everyday.  We love working together.  We can be in work mode and hang out mode and do good at balancing both. Our kids are adjusting and making new friends. I love how welcoming the community is here. People are inviting us to new places, friends are showing up to our live concerts, the manager at the local gym is always so sweet and checking in on us. We are so grateful to have this opportunity to be mangers of the Scandia Inn hotel.
